The skipper has been in good form in recent weeks

Captain Mark Roberts says his side must build on last weekend’s draw with Sheffield United as they prepare for a trip to Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

Antoni Sarcevic earned a point for the Cod Army at Highbury with his first goal of the season, after going behind to an early Bob Harris opener.

Roberts has come in to the side in recent weeks and has performed admirably alongside fellow centre back Stephen Jordan.

Ahead of the trip to the Ricoh, he said: “We want to build on the Sheffield United result now. We were happy with the performance and the way we responded to going a goal down.

“It could have been all three points though, so we go to Coventry hoping for victory.”

Roberts admits that Saturday’s game against the Sky Blues is another big one for the Club as they look to push up the table.

“We worked so hard to get promoted last year, so going to Coventry with the history they’ve got will add that extra excitement towards the game for us.

“As players we have to concentrate on what happens on the pitch no matter who the opposition. All we’re concentrating on is winning games for Fleetwood.”

Graham Alexander’s side have been tested as of late, with a number of players missing out, however Roberts praised the depth of the squad.

“I want to play every game just like any other player, but we’ve got a really strong squad here and we’ve shown that in recent weeks.

“We haven’t had as many players as possible available lately due to injuries and suspensions, but we’ve got quality in the squad to come in.

“We attack and defend as a team and it’s up to the players to all contribute towards goals, not just the strikers.”
