Sky Bet League 2 player of the month

Fleetwood Town midfielder Antoni Sarcevic has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month for September.

Sarcevic, a summer signing from Chester, is elegant in possession, but it is his power which stands out.

He scored three goals in September, featuring a firm header, a 20-yarder against Torquay, and another screamer against Bury.

Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander said: “Antoni’s application and work-rate in training and in games is testament to him getting the award. We’re really chuffed for him.

“The three goals he has scored have been of the highest quality that you’ll see at any level, and even before he found the goal trail we could see the attacking threat he was showing.”

Sky Bet Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Antoni started the month out injured, and has ended it as Sky Bet Player of the Month.

“He's played a huge part in guiding Fleetwood to three Sky Bet League 2 wins from four.

“With three well taken goals, including two in the 4-1 win over Torquay, we should expect plenty more from this 21-year-old.”

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: “Antoni has stepped back into the Sky Bet League 2 in fine style.

“He has driven the team from midfield, catching the eye with three goals in the month of September.”

The Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award went to Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick.
In Sky Bet League 1, Leyton Orient striker David Mooney was named Sky Bet Player of the Month.
