Graham Alexander has reflected on Tuesday evening’s results in League 2 and says it’s likely nothing will be decided until the final day of the campaign.

Chesterfield visit Highbury this Saturday and their play-off hopes took a further dent following a home defeat to a resurgent Plymouth Argyle. “The last two places of the play-off looks like they will go to the last day. We have an outside chance but it is essential we try and win our final two games to take a positive mood into the summer. “At this stage, we would really have stood a chance with the chasing pack if those 5 or 6 points that were in our grasp were taken at the time.  It’s now about how we approach these last two games.  Improvement was there to see last Saturday and the DVD shows we were unlucky.  Improvements in taking our chances in the final third may well have seen a different outcome.” The Town boss has put his players through their paces already this week with an internal practice game. “We’ve had the 2nd year youngsters and pro’s who needed match time playing 90 minutes.  It makes sense to keep everybody ticking over in a proper game situation.  The players will come away feeling sharper and ready to be called on if necessary.” The manager is keen the Cod Army enjoy Saturday and he is determined his players give the supporters something to shout about. “The last home game of any season is very important and this is our first in the Football League.  The players must show the same improved level of commitment and spirit as they did at Rotherham. That in turn gives the supporters a voice and the players then respond. “We have the potential for a fantastic atmosphere on Saturday. As a club we can look back on many achievements this season and look forward to a second Football League campaign. There is plenty to be optimistic about.” Tickets are now on sale from the club shop or online or by calling 0843 515 3832.
