David Ball headed home his sixth goal of the season to seal three points for Fleetwood Town against Morecambe, and praised team-mate Junior Brown for his involvement in not only that goal, but many others during the course of the season.

“Me and Junior have just been saying how many times we seem to have linked up to score goals this season,” Ball said. “That’s good to bring into the team and I was thankful for it. “It was a good ball in and I’ve managed to get my head on it and flick it over into the far corner – I’m really happy with the finish. “It was a bit of movement which got me some space, so that made the goal really – and obviously the delivery was good as well.” The striker noticed an improved performance by Town after the interval and also noted the impact of substitute Alex Titchiner, who was brought on by Graham Alexander to help gain his first three points as Fleetwood manager. “I think we upped the tempo in the second half and we were well worthy of the win,” said Ball. “I thought they didn’t really pose any threat to us, and that we defended really well and created a few chances too. “He [Titchiner] is a pacey and tenacious player. He’s a good lad as well and hopefully he might get a run in the team. He’s been working hard and that’s all he needs to do; just keep his head down and work hard.” The festive period is difficult for any side – particularly one which has experienced a change of manager in the run-up – but Ball feels that any progress made at the end of 2012 will mean a lot for Town as they look to maintain their assault on the league table. “It’s been a hard time for us, but if we can pick up some results it will really push us on for the end of the season,” he said. “I think if we can get a couple of wins in during this time and keep up at the top, then we’ve got a good chance. “I think we can all kick on now and work really hard. We’re all winners and we’ve got a good group of lads.” “Personally, I’ve been really enjoying it,” Ball added. “I’d like to have a few more goals, but I’m happy with some of the performances I’ve put in. “As long as we’re in there and where we want to be, I’m happy.”
