Fleetwood Town's Development Squad ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 score line in their away fixture against Blackpool in the Central League on Tuesday afternoon.
It wasn't the start to the game that Matt Lawlor and his side would have wanted as two quickfire goals in the opening 16 minutes from Owen Mofatt and Brad Holmes meant that Town would be on the back foot from this point.
Just before half-time, the trialist between the Fleetwood sticks pulled off a good save to deny Luke Mariette, who let loose after a tricky run into the penalty area meaning it would stay at a two-goal deficit going into the break.
After the young Cods forced Harvey Bardsley into a good save, as he had to dive low to tip behind a long-range effort, Blackpool extended their lead to three in the 56th minute as Holmes netted his second of the game by getting on the end of Dannen Francis' cross.
Next up for the Development Squad is an away fixture against Preston North End on Tuesday 4 April at 1pm - venue yet to be confirmed.
