Fleetwood Town announced the signing of vastly talented forward Phoenix Patterson from our sister club Waterford FC on January 1 2023.

The 22-year-old joins Town after having a successful season for the Blues in the League of Ireland First Division, as he was named the Player of the Season for that league, earned a spot in the League of Ireland Team of the Season, and was also nominated Young Player of the Season for the whole of Ireland.

Patterson, who was at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur until the age of 19, has been prolific in front of goal for Waterford in his 58 appearances in all competitions as he has 40 total goal contributions, 28 of those being goals and the other 12 being assists – not to mention a number of his strikes have come from outside the box and set-pieces.

Patterson has reached a deal with the club and will join on Sunday 1 January and will be eligible for Fleetwood’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday 7 January.

He made his Town debut in the FA Cup match against QPR, which saw Fleetwood make history by reaching the Fourth Round for the very first time.
