Paddy Madden joined the Cod Army on a permanent deal in January 2018 after leaving fellow Sky Bet League One side Scunthorpe United.
Born in Dublin, Madden started his career at Bohemian F.C. in 2008. He spent three years at the Bohs, which included a brief loan spell at Shelbourne F.C. in 2009.
The striker started his English football career at Carlisle United on January 31st 2011 but joined Yeovil Town on a one-month-loan in October 2012, after not featuring in the Cumbrians’ starting squad. Having scored twice on his debut in a 3-1 home win against Colchester United, he went on to impress at the Glovers and signed a permanent two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 2012/13 season would be his best yet as he won the League One player of the month award in January, after scoring six goals in Yeovil’s three wins from three. Paddy would go on to win the League One golden boot with 23 goals and score in the play-off final to beat Brentford 2-1 and secure Yeovil Town promotion to the Championship for the first time in the club’s history.
The Irishman was placed on the transfer list in November 2013, having not scored since Yeovil’s promotion. League Two side Scunthorpe United bought him in January 2014. He would stay there for the best part of 4 years and helped secure promotion to League One at the first time of asking.
Madden scored 60 goals in all competitions for Scunthorpe United, before he joined Fleetwood Town in January 2018, and scored on his debut in a 2-1 away win against Southend United. He went on to score six goals before the end of the season, and will look to continue that and go one better under Head Coach Joey Barton.
