Paddy Madden joined the Cod Army on a permanent deal in January 2018 after leaving fellow Sky Bet League One side Scunthorpe United.

Born in Dublin, Madden started his career at Bohemian F.C. in 2008. He spent three years at the Bohs, which included a brief loan spell at Shelbourne F.C. in 2009.

The striker started his English football career at Carlisle United on January 31st 2011 but joined Yeovil Town on a one-month loan in October 2012. Having scored twice on his debut in a 3-1 home win against Colchester United, he went on to impress at the Glovers and signed a permanent two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 2012/13 season would be his best yet as he won the League One player of the month award in January, after scoring six goals in Yeovil’s three wins from three. Madden would go on to win the League One golden boot with 23 goals and score in the play-off final to beat Brentford 2-1 and secure Yeovil Town promotion to the Championship for the first time in the club’s history.

The Irishman signed for League Two side Scunthorpe United in January 2014. He would stay there for the best part of 4 years and helped them secure promotion to League One at the first time of asking.

Madden scored 60 goals in all competitions for Scunthorpe United, before he joined Fleetwood Town in January 2018, scoring on his debut in a 2-1 away win against Southend United. He went on to score six goals before the end of the season.

Madden has made over 100 appearances for the Cod Army since joining and played a pivotal role in Joey Barton’s side’s challenge for promotion to the Championship. In the 2019/20 season Madden scored 18 goals in all competitions. The 30-year-old now has over 40 goals for Fleetwood Town.
