Former Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers defender joined the Cod Army in June 2018 on a season-long loan from Championship side Preston North End.

The central defender started off his career at Sheffield Wednesday as a youngster, and made over 200 appearances for The Owls in six years at the club. He was named their academy Player of the Year in the 2004/05 season, and made his first team debut in 2006 against Reading.

Spurr captained Wednesday on 21st February 2009 against Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace, but with future results, he and the club were relegated to League One.

The defender signed for Yorkshire side Doncaster Rovers in 2011 on a two-year deal before signing for Blackburn Rovers in 2013. 

Three years later, Spurr signed for local rivals Preston North End on a free transfer. Having played a number of games for the club and missing out on a spot with former Town loaee Ben Davies, he joined up with Joey Barton at Fleetwood in June 2018.
