Fleetwood Town were delighted to announce Carl Johnston had signed a new long-term contract earlier this season, which will see him stay until the summer of 2025, with the club holding an option for a further year.
Johnston – who became a constant figure in the first-team setup last season – has now earned an extended deal with the club and will now look to add to the 20 first-team appearances he’s already made.
The 20-year-old also has international experience to his name as he has featured for his native Northern Ireland at three different age groups – Under-17s, Under-19s, and Under-21s – with the senior team firmly in his sights for the future, much like Paddy Lane who has now made three senior appearances for the national side.
The midfielder scored his first professional goal away at MK Dons on Saturday 10 December 2022, despite playing left back in the starting XI for Scott Brown's side. The Cod Army went on to win 2-1 in the match, thanks to Johnston's second half equaliser and Dan Batty's last minute wonder strike.
