Club captain and World Record holder Nathan Pond is the Cod Army’s longest serving player and has a story that cannot be rivalled by anyone in the professional game.
Pondy has seen it all at Fleetwood Town, having played for the club for more than ten years and has enjoyed an incredible six promotions.
He even entered the Guinness World Records for the only player to have played in seven different divisions with one football club. The Preston born defender has played an integral role in helping Fleetwood rise the non-league ladder and make the stride into professional football.
A physical centre half, Pond started out for Town by playing in midfield before Micky Mellon took the decision to alter his position. After a successful loan spell at Grimsby Town in 2012, he became a key member of Graham Alexander’s squad as he gained promotion by reaching League One.
Nathan was rewarded for his services over the past decade when Fleetwood hosted his home team Preston North End in a friendly match on Saturday 20th July, a game in which Fleetwood won 4-0. The 2016/17 season will be Pond's 14th season as a Fleetwood Town footballer.
