Fleetwood Town Wrens development squad drop out of Lancs Senior Cup

Fleetwood Town Wrens  Development squad lost 2-0 to Whitehaven AFC Ladies in the Lancashire FA Women's County League Senior Cup at the County Ground in Cumbria.

The Wrens development squad unfortunately fell short in a hope for a trophy as defeat on Sunday 19 May meant they couldn't advance to the final.

Megan Batey opened the scoring for Whitehaven in the first half, where the Wrens tried their best to react and get back into the game, however, mid-way through the second half Ellie-May Callander doubled Whitehaven's advantage leaving the Wrens with too much work to do with not enough time left.

There were some good chances in the game for the Wrens and some impressive periods but just couldn't work the ball into the back of the net against a stubborn Whitehaven defence.

A valiant effort from the Wrens development squad and a cup-run to be proud of full of goals and impressive performances; it's a good experience to learn from where some individuals will be looking to push into the Wrens first team soon.
