Let's take a trip down memory lane as we take a look at our League Two debut as we prepare for next season in the division, how we got there and the opening day

A historic Blue Square Conference league title win in 2011/12 accumulating a club record 103 points spear-headed by a certain Jamie Vardy, meant the follwing season the Cod Army were playing in the football league for the first time in the club's history.

Fleetwood began their football league career as they hosted Torquay United at Highbury Stadium on 18 August 2012, the excitement was building at Highbury as Town's debut in the football league was highly anticipated by the fans.

Cods starting line-up that day

Scott Davies (GK)

Shaun Beeley

Youl Mawene

Steve McNulty (C)

Dean Howell

Barry Nicholson

Damien Johnson

Jamie McGuire

David Ball

Jon Parkin

Andy Mangan

There was new-found football league experience as Jon Parkin, Barry Nicholsson and Youl Mawene had played at a higher level nearby for Preston where this experience seemed vital as on the opening day Town didn't want to start off on a bad note.

There was efforts at both ends but in the end it was a day for both defences with a clean-sheet for either sides and the game finished a respectable 0-0.

However, a slow start to the campaign saw Fleetwood and then manager Micky Mellon part ways.

Graham Alexander replaced Mellon and steered Town to a 13th place finish (15 wins, 15 draws, 16 losses).

Fleetwood also finished that season with the most clean sheets in the division (13).

Some amazing memories followed in the next decade and here's hoping we make some more memories in Sky Bet League Two as we prepare for the 2024/25 campaign.
