Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies First Team were in action on Sunday afternoon, and played out a 2-2 draw on the road away at Crewe Alexandra Women in a mid-table clash.

The Wrens started off the game well and had large spells of possession which was pleasing to see from the coaches perspective. With some fanatstic build-up play in the opening 30 minutes, it was only moments later when Emily Slater scored from a well-worked set-piece.

The hosts reacted well and three minutes later found the net, taking the scores level with it all the play for in the well-fought contest.

Fleetwood responded again and took the lead minutes before the half-time whistle. It was another fantastic set piece, which was converted by Emma Hickson giving the Wrens the lead at the half-time interval.

The second half kicked off and it was all Fleetwood as they continued to play some fantastic football. Despite chances coming the visitors way, they failed to take them and in football if you don't your chances, it will come and haunt you and that's what happened.

The hosts managed to find a late goal and get a share of the points with the game finishing 2-2. The Player of the Match was, Eve Kennerley for her stunning display in the heart of the midfield. Her link up play set the tone for the match and we are looking forward to seeing more performances like that over the course of the season.
