It was a memorable weekend for the Wrens Ladies as both the Reserves and Development Squad picked up important wins in the Lancashire FA Challenger Cup Third Round.

The Wrens Ladies Reserved welcomed Radcliffe's Development to Brews Park in the Third Round of the LFA Challenger Cup, and after so many weeks without a game, it was a good opportunity for some vital game time and for the Ladies to get back intot the swing of it.

The Ladies started off extremely well, asserting dominance from the get go and it was in the opening minutes that Ruby Farrell opened her scorecard for the day with a great finish from range. Following this, Lauren Hardman scored twice in a matter of minute, giving the red and whites a comfortable 3-0 lead.

After some great attacking play,Tasha Stenton joined in on the goals with a super strike - one to remember for the youngster. The ladies continued to play good football, creating numerous chances and it was Ruby who again found herself burying the ball into the back of the net to make it five.

The Ladies continued to be tenacious and dangerous on the attack and with Robyn Hodkin and Gracie Slater finding the net in the first half. Ruby and Robyn weren't quite finished and added another three brilliant goals between them to make it 10-0 at the interval.

As the second half unfolded, the Ladies kept the pressure on ensuring they controlled the game throughout and the goals were not finished just yet. Ruby, Robyn & Gracie ensured the ladies progressed in the Cup with a bang scoring six between them in the second 45 miutes.

The game finished 16-0 to the Cod Army, with Ruby Farrell named as Player of the Match for her clinical nature in front of goal and all-round performance from start to finish.

The Development Squad hit the road today to take on Blackburn Eagles in the Third Round of the Lancashire FA Challenger Cup, and they were made to work for their victory.

The Ladies started off the game well, and had some really good spells in the final third, but also making life difficuly for their opponents with high pressing from the front. They were unlucky to find themselves two goals down at half time, but were very much in the game with it all to play for in the second half.

Just like they started the match, the Wrens came out the traps once again with intensity and were eagar to get that first goal in the second half, which they managed to get through Ruby Hindle whose goal made it 2-1 with plenty of time on the clock.

That moment changed the scale of the game and gave them the determination to go and find the equaliser and that's exactly what they did with a brilliant 30 yard lob from Mollie Brown - it was definitely game on!

With all things level, and both sides fighting to get the winner, it was a super goal from Ruby in the 89th minute which gave Fleetwood the win and whilst also putting their name firmly in the hat for the Fourth Round of the competition.

For their efforts from the first whistle to the last, and showing great character to come back from two goals down, there wasn't a Player of the Match, the whole squad got Players of the Match - well done girls!
