Loan watch: Hayes with another Team of the Week performance

It has been another successful week for our players who are out on loan, and we've put together a full round-up which top performances and Man of the Match nominations.

Starting this report with the young winger Cian Hayes who is loving his football over at Rochdale, in the first game of two in a week, he caused consistent problems for the Altrincham defence at the Crown Oil Arena and almost picked up an assist when he found Jimmy Keohane, whose strike was well held by the keeper – Rochdale ran away with the game and won 3-0 on the night.

Adding on to this, the young winger had a day to remember on Saturday as he was named in the National League Team of the Week after his performance against Dagenham & Redbridge, mainly because of him scoring the opener in some fashion, curling his effort in from range, finding the top corner whilst leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Both George Morrison and Billy Jones were involved in King’s Lynn Town’s plans last week as the former played both games from start to finish, with the latter being a key figure in the game against Scarborough on Tuesday. The results didn’t go their way in that game, and the one soon after against Tamworth, but both players showed quality throughout.

It was a weekend to forget for both Callum Dolan and Theo Williams at Torquay United as they lost out to Dartford at the Princes Park Stadium. Even though Dolan was unlucky to not have picked up a goal or assist in the game, and Williams was close to netting on multiple occasions, it wasn’t their day as the game finished 3-0 for the home side.

It’s been a busy week for goalkeeper Pat Boyes at FC United of Manchester as he's played every minute in their two games over the last seven days, with the games ending in a draw against Bamber Bridge away from home before narrowly losing out against Matlock Town in the game after that.

Another player who has been active all week for his loan side is defender Tom Hoyle, but he would have hoped for a better result as they fell to a 4-1 loss to Leek Town away from home. Connor Hughes scored their goal on the day, but a brace from Rob Stevenson and one apiece from Dan Trickett-Smith and Tom Carr put the game out of sight.

Young forward Will Russ is still out with an injury he sustained when he first arrived at Hyde United at the start of the month, so he wasn’t involved again at the weekend when his side faced off against Morpeth Town at Ewen Fields, which ended in a 2-1 win thanks to goals on the day from Harry Bunn and Jack Redshaw respectively.

Both Barry Baggley and Drew Baker have returned from our sister club over in Ireland, Waterford FC, after their successful play-off campaign which saw them get promoted back to the top level of Irish football, the League of Ireland Premier Division, earlier this month, with both playing their part in the season-long push – welcome back, lads!
