Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves were in action over the weekend in the LFA Senior Cup Semi-Final, and now have the opportunity to make it a double this season after beating Preston North End 5-0 on the road.

The Ladies started the game off well and created many good opportunities in the early exchanges, but just couldn’t take advantage of the great play on show.

It wasn't long before Fleetwood took the lead through Carmel Daniel – who opened the scoring in the first half.  The midfielder managed to find the back of the net with a super stroke from just past the halfway line.

The ladies continued to hunt for a second and it didn’t take long for Lydia Wright to bag with a tidy finish.

The ladies continued to control the game and soon after they were awarded a penalty. Daniels was unlucky not to convert from the 12-yard spot, but Emily McCarthy was first to react to the rebound and drove the ball into the back of the net giving Fleetwood the 3-0 lead going into half-time.

As the second half kicked off, the Reserves continued the way they finished the first and asserting their dominance across the pitch, applying pressure across all areas and were quick to win possession back at all times.

Robyn Hodkin managed to get herself on the score sheet as she found herself in plenty of space after a quality delivery from the flank. Something you just need to be in the right place at the right time.

The fifth came from Emily Brandes – who picked the ball up in midfield and with a fantastic strike from distance, smashed it into the back of the net. A well-deserved goal for the player of the match!

It was a brilliant display from the Ladies & a well-deserved ticket to the final for them all who couldn’t have done anything else to be in the final.

With the Reserves winning the league title last month, can they go on and make it a double for the season? More details on the final will be announced at a later date.
