Fleetwood Town head coach Scott Brown spoke to the local media on Friday morning ahead of the Sky Bet League One match away at Cheltenham Town.
With a quick turnaround from Wednesday's Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round tie at high-flying Burnley, Fleetwood Town now make the long trip to Cheltenham, where they will be looking to get back to winning ways and continue their fine league form.
Brown was complimentary of his side following the narrow defeat at Turf Moor, and told BBC Lancs Sports that his team are in a good place, there is good vibes around the group and everybody is focused for the weekend's match.
Here is what the gaffer has to say:
On Burnley & the willingness to defend…
“We have to use aspects of the Burnley game when we look forward because of the way the lads played and with the way we shaped up. The lads’ stats were incredible on the night, even more so as we were down to ten men for 45 minutes.
“We tried to play football when we had the ball, but we also knew there would be long period when we don’t have it and that was fine, we dealt with that with our structure and the lads kept throwing their bodies on the line.
“It was lovely to see and for me, it didn’t look like Burnley were going to score as our low block was pretty solid. I think if you want to win games, you have to be solid and you have to know each other’s jobs.
“The lads want to defend, they love defending and we need to make sure we keep clean sheet and if we can win a game 1-0, we can do it and sometimes it needs to be nasty.”
On the league position…
“You are never safe. We need to keep going as we are currently two points better off than we were last season and there are still 13 games to play.
“For us, we need to get to that 50-point mark and then we can see where we can go.
“We are going to take games one at a time and for us, Cheltenham are next, and we never know what can happen. We need to make sure we concentrate on ourselves and get ready for Cheltenham as there hasn’t been much time in between game to prepare.
“We are in a good position and for us, we need to focus on ourselves and not worry about the position we are in. I get paid to win games and the lads are also paid to win games and the vibe around the place is exceptional when you win – you must make sure you have that mentality to better yourself.”
On Saturday’s opponents…
“We go into every game very confident and believing that we can win every single game and the lads definitely have that mentality and drive.
“The players need to make sure that they are focused, and we don’t switch off because we had a good performance against Burnley, that was a couple of days ago now.
“We need to make sure we are ready to go again and know how we are going to play and also that we have the energy in the team as well come 3pm.”
