EFL statement: League One to stick to seven man bench

The EFL confirmed last night Sky Bet League One and League Two will continue to use five substitutes from seven named on the bench for the 2023/24 season.

In a press release put out at 5pm yesterday, the Football League confirmed that teams in the Sky Bet Championship will now increase the size of their benches to nine players, whilst keeping the five-substitute rule.

In accordance with the League’s Articles of Association each Division is able to propose and adopt amendments or alterations to a variety of fixture related matters, including the number of substitutes.
