Fleetwood Town's Under-18s faced off against Irish side Cobh Ramblers in a pre-season friendly as part of their week-long training camp in Waterford.
Mark Yeates lead his side out against Cobh on Tuesday evening, with the Cod Army losing their first match of two whilst out in Ireland for a week-long training camp at Waterford.
The Cods were beaten 6-3 on the night, but saw themselves two goals to the good after Crispin McLean's free-kick and Harry Elmore's strike gave the visitors a comfortable lead.
Cobh Ramblers got themsevles back into the match with two quick-fire goals, however a late goal from Dominic Richmond saw Yeates' side go into the break leading 3-2.
It was a first-half full of positives for head coach Yeates and his coaching staff, but with changes made at the break, Town struggled with the physicality of the game.
With majority of their players being Under-19s, it was a good test for Fleetwood Town's players who will have learnt a lot from the match heading into their new programme for the 2023/24 season.
Cobh scored four goals in the last 45 minutes to see the game out 6-3. Town now have a day to recover and to pick themselves up before facing the Blues (Waterford FC) on Thursday at the SETU.
