Fleetwood Town's Under-18s carried on their recent run of form over the weekend at Poolfoot Farm as they managed to beat Morecambe 2-1 on Saturday morning.

Town started the game strong as they managed to work two gilt-edged chances before the deadlock was broken as Kyle King fired a venomous effort towards goal in the 17th minute, which stung the palms of the goalkeeper and Dom Richmond pounced on a poor clearance, but saw his chance deflected out for a corner.

Mark Yeates' side did eventually manage to put themselves a goal up in the league clash as seven minutes ahead of the half-time break, Kayden Hughes cleared a long ball over the top with a powerful header, which landed at the feet of Mikey Lane, who turned his man well and finished into the bottom left corner.

It was a game of few chances, but Fleetwood did double their lead and it came from a Pharrell Brown set-piece. He whipped a corner towards the near post, with captain Will Johnson juking his marker and finished cleverly in the 75th minute.

The visitors pulled one back eight minutes from time as their number 17 rose highest to latch onto a cross from the right, beating Rio Cragg who was between the sticks, but the young Cods stood firm at the back after this and made sure they would add another three points to their Youth Alliance tally from the clash.

Town XI: Cragg (GK), Khela, Arthur, Hughes, W.Johnson, King, Richmond, Namputu (Kearns 60'), Lane, Brown, Roberts (Marsh (56').

Unused subs: Graham (GK), Hand, Daha.
