Chris Conn-Clarke has been shining out on loan once again this week and has helped Altrincham extend their unbeaten run to 10 games after two brilliant set-piece goals against Maidenhead United.

It was a slow start for Alty as they fell behind in the game after Reece Smith opened the scoring just after the quarter-hour mark in the clash, but Conn-Clarke showed his recent form for the non-league side as he stood over a free-kick not long after that and struck it into the back of the net off the far post making the game go back to level terms.

Marcus Dinanga added a second to Altrincham’s tally, but they were penned back just before the break and went into the half-time set to share the spoils at 2-2. This wasn’t the end of the story though as our Northern Irishman stood over another free kick 63 minutes into the game and struck it straight into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance of saving it.

It was a shame that they couldn’t go out for another league fixture at the weekend as their game against Yeovil Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Fellow loanee players Tom Hoyle and Tom Donaghy had the same fate at Colne as their game, which was set to take place on Saturday, was also called off.

In a more positive game from Saturday afternoon, Will Russ and Hyde United earned all three points from their clash against Stafford Rangers after Edy Maieco off the bench and made an instant impact by scoring the only goal in the game. Russ played from start to end in this one and played his part in earning the win at The Project Solar Stadium.
