Wrens Ladies beat Accrington Stanley to reach League Cup Semi-Finals

Fleetwood Town Ladies Wrens beat Lancashire side Accrington Stanley 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to reach the League Cup Semi-Finals.

The Wrens Ladies First Team made the short trip to the home of Padiham FC to take on Accrington Stanley Ladies team in the Quarter-Finals of the North West Womens Regional League Cup.

It was a tight aware in Lancashire, but a goal from Stanley and one from Town's Sophie Slater meant the tie would go into Extra-Time to determine who would progress in the competition. After a dominant display for the 120 minutes, Lila Caramichael's Extra-Time goal sealed victory for the Cod Army.

The Wrens Ladies Development Squad were also in action on Sunday as they faced Bolton Wanderers Girls in the LFA Women's County League Championship at St. Catherine's Academy. 

It was a defeat on the road for the Development Squad with Bolton Wanderers coming out 4-0 winners on home soil. Yas McLaren and Maddi Spencer would the stand out players for Fleetwood Town, who throughout the game worked tirelessly and never gave up.
