Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies were back in action this weekend, with the First Team and Reserves getting back to winning ways over the Easter Weekend.

First-team: Fleetwood Town 4-0 West Didsbury & Chorlton

The match was played at Poolfoot Farm, and in front of a good crowd on the 4G pitches, the ladies turned up and made sure they picked up a valuable three points on home soil. The win has now taken them into 5th place in the league, with FC United of Manchester up next for the Cods.

Two goals from Emily Slater and a brace from Emily Jones ensured the red and white army got over the line. It was a dominant performance, with some great football played throughout the 90 minutes. One that really pleased the coaching staff in the dugout.

Emily Slater was the Player of the Match at the weekend, not just for her goals but for her overall performance

Wrens Ladies First-Team: Charmaine Cardwell, Carmichael (Brown 45'), Hunter (Crawshaw 45'), E.Jones, C.Parkinson, E.Parkinson, Scanlon (O'Neill 45'), E.Slater (G.Slater 45'), S.Slater, Warbrick (Woods 45'), Hendry.

Reserves: Accrington Stanley Ladies 2-10 Wrens Ladies

It was a day to remember for the Wrens Ladies Reserves as they hit double figures against their Lancashire rivals, Stanley. Carmel Daniel scored four goals in the match, with Lydia Wright and Emily McCarthy scoring a brace. Further goals from Ruby Farrell and Mollie Mullender sealed the victory in Accrington.

The hosts did score one after the break and one later in the second half, but the game was over at half-time with the score 0-5 to the Cod Army. Ruby Hodkin was named Player of the Match, but all 12 who made an appearance were worthy winners of the accolade.

The Wrens Ladies now sit top of the table with only one match remaining this season and it will be a title decider. On Thursday 20 April 2023, the Wrens will welcome 2nd place Bury to Poolfoot Farm and it will be available for all supporters to attend free of charge.

Wrens Ladies Reserves: Aitken, Brandes, Cooke, Daniel, Duffy, Frankle, Hodkin, McCarthy, Stritch, Wilcock, Mullender, Farrell (off the bench).
