Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserved were named Lancashire FA Women's County Premier League champions after beating Bury FC Foundations Womens Firsts 4-2 in the title decider at Poolfoot Farm.

Goals from Gemma Newson, Louise Stritch, Emily McCarthy and Ellie Duffy were enough to see off the visitors Bury FC as avoiding defeat was all that the Cod Army needed to do to be named champions.

With Bury two points behind the Wrens before kick-off on Thursday evening, all that the red and white army needed to do was draw or win the final game of the season.

It wasn't going to plan early on as the visitors took the lead in the first half, but with the resilience shown throughout the season, the reds grafted and grabbed one back to level proceedings at Fleetwood Town's training complex.

There was so much passion and emotion shown on the pitch by both sets of players, but it was ultimately some clinical finishing that gave Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves the win, and the championship title on the night!
