Midfielder Scott Robertson spoke to the press earlier on this week and looked at how the last three games could be pivotal in building momentum going into the summer.

The 21-year-old has had a stop-start time in his first season with Town as injuries have kept him side-lined a couple of times throughout the campaign, but has still managed to impress the Cod Army in the 15 appearances he has made in the heart of the midfield – he’s now hoping to pick up some points on Saturday to keep the recent momentum going,

Here’s what he had to say:

On the final push and potential momentum…

“The last three games are important for next season, we want to push on next season and see where it takes us, so it’s all about building up a bit of momentum going into the break. Tuesday night was a disappointing result, even though we played some good stuff in the game, but we lacked that clinical edge.

“We put five past Accrington and, if I’m being harsh on ourselves, we could have made that game more comfortable for us and on Tuesday night, we played decent football until that final third. We built up the play quite well and have stuck to our identity, but we just needed that edge as I mentioned at the top end of the pitch.

“In the last two games, I’ve enjoyed them as it seems we are getting back to what we are all about in terms of passing the ball and dominating games. The gaffer just wants us to play football his way and hopefully, that’s been quite evident this season. Now, it’s all about going into the final three games with that mindset and continuing it.”

On the squad being settled for the summer…

“I can’t wait to get going in the last three games and take that form into next season. the gaffer wants us to push into that top half and I think that would be a very good first season as a manager for him and for Fleetwood Town. Where we were last year, being in a relegation battle, it’s been a positive season.”

“It was a frustrating time to do my quad because I was out for four to six weeks, which was frustrating. I would say in February and March, I was nowhere near the standards I set myself and probably what the gaffer expects from me as well, but in the last few games against Bristol, Accy, and Forest Green, I’ve shown that there’s a lot more to come from me.

“Most of the lads that are here now will be here next year and which should give us confidence that we can go and have a good push next season, maybe even the playoffs. We have a pretty settled squad for the summer, and we know there will be a few additions, as there is every summer, but the main core of the group will be the same.”
