Fleetwood Town’s Under-18s ended their recent run of positive results on Tuesday afternoon as they fell to a narrow 1-0 loss to Shrewsbury Town.

It wasn’t the start to the game that the young Cods would have wanted as they conceded a penalty kick less than 15 minutes into the game. It was Harvey Kirby-Moore who won the spot kick in the 13th minute, and he then stepped up to take it and slotted it past Stephen McMullan.

A red card would follow on the pitch, and another off the pitch, for the visitors and that meant full steam ahead to press for the equaliser, even though chances were created throughout the game by Mark Yeates’ side, it wasn’t meant to be as the Shrews kept their backs to the wall.

All focus in the Under-18s group now moves to the game at the weekend when Salford City heads to Poolfoot Farm for a 10:30am kick-off.

Town XI: McMullan (GK), Khela (King 45'), Jones, Wilson, Trialist (Roberts 67'), Hughes (Hand 21'), Trialist, Morrison, Lane, Glenfield (Richmond 57'), Brown.
