Three young Cods – Will Russ, Chris Conn-Clarke, and Tom Donaghy - have been in action over the last seven days for their respective loan side – here’s an update on how they did.
Will Russ has had a great week for FC United of Manchester as he came off the bench in their league fixture against Warrington Town and was the difference in the last half-hour of the game.
When he was introduced, in place of Joe Rodwell-Grant in the 53rd minute, he was straight into it as he managed to break the deadlock 10 minutes later after producing a poacher's finish inside the box.
On Tuesday evening, Russ played in his second game in a week as they travelled to Liversedge and ended up winning the league clash 4-0 on the night. Town’s young forward had a shot blocked 20 minutes in, but it was a goal from Callum Gribbin and a hat-trick from Linney that secured the win.
Another player out on loan also saw victory this week as Chris Conn-Clarke, who is currently at Altrincham, as they came out 1-0 winners over Aldershot on Saturday.
The winger was named in the starting line-up and almost found the back of the net 55 minutes in as he troubled the goalkeeper from outside the area. The winning goal came from the penalty spot just before the end as Ryan Colclough converted the spot kick.
Goalkeeper Tom Donaghy is a new addition to the loan watch articles as he was sent out on loan to Lancaster City on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before he made his debut against Morpeth Town away from home, as he looks for valuable first-team experience to help him advance his career.
