Three young Cods – Will Russ, Chris Conn-Clarke, and Tom Donaghy - have been in action over the last seven days for their respective loan side – here’s an update on how they did.

Will Russ featured once again for FC United of Manchester, with the latest being on Tuesday night in his respected Club winning 2-1 against South Shields after a last minute winner. He played 90 minutes in Tuesday’s fixture, and was substituted late into injury time.

Russ also featured for the Reds last Saturday against Marine AFC. The match finished 1-1 with each team taking a share of the points. The young forward was substituted at half-time in this match.

Another player out on loan was Chris Conn-Clarke - who is currently at Altrincham. They came out 3-1 winners over Gateshead at the Gateshead International Stadium. In the 12th minute, Chris Conn-Clarke followed up perfectly after Langley saved his first effort on goal to draw the sides level following a Gateshead goal early on.

The forward made way after 74 minutes with the game comfortably in Altrincham’s favour, with Tuesday’s goal making it two goals for Conn-Clarke this season out on loan.

The winger was also named in the starting XI for their match at the weekend against Notts County. Midway through the first half, Conn-Clarke was played through by Dianga, and the forward would have made it 1-0 if it wasn’t for Sam Slocombe in the County goal.

He had two further opportunities in the second half, but failed to take them. Altrincham lost 3-1 on the road at the former EFL side.

Goalkeeper Tom Donaghy – who is now on loan at Lancaster City – was in action for his Club and started against Belper Town in the Norhern Premier League Premier Division clash. Lancaster were 1-0 up at the break thanks to Brad Carroll’s strike, but James Carvell had other ideas and stuck his effort away with only two minutes left of the clock – not much Town’s young keeper could do with that one.
