Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce young midfielder George Morrison has today signed his first professional contract with the Club.

Following a successful opening season with the Club's Under-18s, Morrison has put pen to paper on a two-year professional contract at Fleetwood Town Football Club.

The 17-year-old joined became a scholar in the summer and has been called up to the Scotland Under-18s squad for the first time since then, making his debut in their friendly against Poland.

Morrison said on the news: "I am so happy to have signed my first professional contract; all I have ever wanted to be was a footballer and it's a dream come true. The coaches have helped me massively over the years to develop into the player I am today.

"All the hard work from a young age has paid off and I can't thank my parents and those around me enough. They have sacrificed so much for me to get to this moment, but I know it's only the beginning and this is where the hard work begins."

Head of Academy, Jack Higgins, added: "We are delighted to see George sign his professional contract as he epitomises everything our Academy is about – he is hard-working, committed, and has a real hunger and desire to learn and improve. He shows this every day on and off the pitch to give himself the best chance of a professional career.

"George has been with us since the age of 10 and has grown so much as a person and as a player in that time. He made his debut for the Under-18s as an Under-15 player, and played a huge role in the 18s group last season as an Under-16s and even featured 12 times for the Under-21s too.

"To see him recently rewarded with his first international call-up with Scotland Under-18s I know was a proud moment for George and his family, and all of us at Fleetwood Town. We are looking forward to continuing to work with George and know he’ll give everything towards his own development."

Congratulations on the contract, George!
