Fleetwood Town’s Former Players Association all came together for their monthly meet-up at Poolfoot Farm on Thursday morning as they looked to help celebrate Dave Cookson’s 90th birthday.

The meeting started in the usual fashion as the members all gathered around for a tea or coffee and looked forwards to the next month of topics, whether that be upcoming Town fixtures, birthdays coming up, or trips out for the members.

It was a packed one, with one of the highest attendances of the year coming to the club’s training ground, and it was a special occasion as long-term member Cookson turned up with his family and a shedload of cakes for everyone there as he celebrated his 90th birthday with his former teammates.

The regular chats and pictures then took place both inside the Pizza Calcio bar and in front of the complex before they all made their way home with smiles on their faces. It’s an exciting one coming up next month for the former players as it will be their annual Christmas dinner!

FPA Chairman Stuart Murdoch warned all the players, in regard to the meeting, which is set to take place on Thursday 1 December, that anyone who doesn’t turn up in the Christmas spirit with jumpers and joy will have to do a forfeit – we will have to wait and see what he means by that when the meeting comes around next month.

Great to see you all again!
