Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the club has triggered a one-year extension in Tom Clarke’s contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2022/23 Sky Bet League One season.

The central defender joined the Cods in the summer of 2021 and has since become an important figure in the backline of the side, making 36 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals in that time.

Clarke was also handed the captain’s armband on numerous occasions throughout the season as he shared his experience with the younger players around him, coaching them through certain situations since the start of the campaign.

The contract has been extended with the club after the 34-year-old played a number of games and triggered the extension in his original contract.
