Smart Choice Metering is delighted to announce today that, following protracted negotiations, it has successfully completed the acquisition of certain business and assets of local Chorley based competitor, Magnum Utilities.
The acquisition comprises the key EDF and EoN field installation business and 96 staff, the majority of whom are field-based metering engineers; the office-based team will bring valuable experience in other key areas, including appointment-scheduling and quality assurance, enabling the company to support its growing client base.
Manchester based Smart Choice Metering provides a range of meter installation and other services to energy suppliers across the UK, playing a vital role in the successful delivery of the Government’s smart meter rollout programme. The business is well positioned to move into the electric vehicle charging point and heat pump installation arena, and with over 160 qualified engineers is actively pursuing additional complementary acquisitions.
Andy Pilley and Michelle Davidson, Owners & Directors of Smart Choice Metering said:
“It is always sad to hear about hard-working staff being faced with uncertainty in a shifting landscape, and it gives us great pleasure to say we have been able to strengthen our existing team of engineers and back-office staff, by transferring all 96 employees, with their accrued benefits, to Smart Choice Metering.
“We offer a key service, enabling our supplier clients to meet their government-set targets to provide every home and eligible business with a smart meter by 2025, and this additional resource will be a much-needed boost.
“Let us take this opportunity to welcome all former Magnum employees to the company, and to wish them every success and happiness as part of our Smart Choice team.”
