Fleetwood United, our sister club in Dubai, are currently sitting joint-top of the UAE Third Division after their 1-0 win over fellow leaders Al Nujoom on Saturday.
With the Dubai Cods starting the season at the end of February with a 1-0 win over Royal – thanks to a goal from Chiekh Dieng – and a small setback after their loss against Zamalek last week, they had it all to play for against Al Nujoom in a home clash at Dubai Sports City.
It was a tightly contested fixture for the majority of the game, but it was Mamadou Bamba who managed to break the deadlock with 20 minutes to go. It was brilliant play down the right that meant the ball could be fed to the edge of the 19-yard box to Bamba who calmly slotted home.
They are back in action on Sunday 20 March in an 8pm kick-off (4pm UK time) as they travel to face Elite Falcons who sit bottom of the table and without a win so far this season.
