Goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara spoke to the press after keeping his first clean sheet for Fleetwood Town in their draw against Doncaster Rovers at Highbury.

It was a match of few clear-cut chances – Cian Hayes came closest for Fleetwood in the first half when he fired over the bar after a dazzling solo run. In a more dominant second-half performance, the Cod Army wasn’t able to break the deadlock.

Here’s what O’Hara had to say after his first clean sheet for the club:

On the clean sheet…

“Some of our recent performances have been disappointing in terms of wanting to keep a clean sheet and we didn’t feel like we were far off it. It’s been a long time coming and it’s good to get my first clean sheet at the club as well it’s hopefully something we can build on now.

“It’s great as part of the defensive unit but it starts from the front. It was a team effort, we’re all made up with it, we’ve kept a clean sheet and I’m kind of disappointed we didn’t get more from the game today. We’ll build off the back of good defensive performances like that and getting three points next time as opposed to one.

“You’ve obviously got to keep your concentration throughout the game. In the last few games, we’ve conceded late on so breaking that mental barrier was massive, and not to concede late on in this game is something that we’ll take huge confidence from going forward and long may that continue.”

On the game…

“It felt like a cagey game that nobody wanted to lose. I think we take positives from it in terms of the result. It’s a game we felt like we should’ve won but you take the positives from it and move onto the next one.

“We’ve had a run of difficult games over the last few weeks and to have conceded late and lost in important games, it has been difficult and can take its toll on the lads. The reaction to it though has been excellent and we’ve kept positive and kept trying to do the right things hopefully we can build on that now going forward.

“It was difficult out there today, it was a cagey encounter because we’re playing a team who are close to our league position as well, but it’s one of those now where we take the point, put it behind us, and move on.”
