Fleetwood Town’s first-team players have come together with our Community Trust to support those in need in Ukraine by donating to the ‘Highbury to Kyiv’ charity bike ride, which took place last week.

Both Community Trust staff and Sports College students have cycled, rowed, and swam the distance between Highbury Stadium to Kyiv in Ukraine – totalling 1,757 miles between Monday 14 March and Friday 18 March, with all funds raised being split between the British Red Cross and Comic Relief.

The players thought that this was a great initiative from our Community Trust staff and wanted to get involved so they have donated hundreds of pounds so they can reach their goal as all the money will be turned into invaluable resources that will support those across the world who are suffering, specifically those in and fleeing Ukraine.

On the initiative, a member of the British Red Cross said: “We appreciate the efforts of the Fleetwood Town staff and students involved in the challenge. The money raised is going to a worthwhile cause, supporting those vulnerable women and children that are fleeing the country, providing aid.”
