Croatia Tour diary: Day four

8 July 2022

It's been a slightly quieter day for the squad out here in Croatia as they focused on recovery from the Rotherham United outing from day three whilst also having one eye on the second friendly against HNK Orijent this Saturday.

To try and not repeat ourselves on these diary, here's a quick summary of the morning: wake up, shower, and breakfast. The morning session today was different to the other days here as it was all about recovery so a gym circuit and cycle was a nice change of pace for the players.

Lunch was up next, with the players and staff tucking in before heading out into the local area for bike rides, walks, or even for a coffee in the afternoon. Everyone had to be back on-site for 5:30pm, when the temperature started to go down - not by much though as it was still roasting - with an evening session then on the cards.

In that rest break though, we managed to catch up with new signing Shaun Rooney and talk to him about his time so far at the club, how he's dealing with the heat out here in Pula, and how this trip will help the squad progress ahead of the upcoming season - this will be released on our website and social media tomorrow so keep an eye out for that.

The evening session started with the lads stretching on Pitch 2, before making the small walk to Pitch 1, where the session would take place. The 'keepers were already there doing their normal drills as they worked on mobility, agility, and more essential skills for those players in the sticks.

Crossing, shooting, and a few dynamic drills were on show as the players worked hard for 70 minutes to replicate the work they did in the game against the Millers on Thursday evening. Without doubt, more of the same will be coming tomorrow and we even have a game against Orijent to look forward to in the evening.
