Fleetwood Town are set to face Tranmere Rovers on Saturday 2 July in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly at Poolfoot Farm, and here’s all you need to know ahead of the clash.

Both Fleetwood and Tranmere have been busy in the summer recruiting for the 2022/23 season, with respected managers Scott Brown and Micky Mellon making moves ahead of the EFL opening weekend later this month.

Scott Brown has made six signings this transfer window, with the latest being former Preston North End defender, Josh Earl. The 23-year-old joined the Cod Army on a two-year-deal and has settled into life at the Club well after a full week’s worth of training.

Five other players have walked into the building, with Shaun Rooney, Jay Lynch, Josh Vela, Brendan Wiredu and Callum Morton being the others additions to the Fleetwood squad in this summer transfer window

Tranmere Rovers have been busy too in the transfer market, with their latest signing being Neil Byrne from Hartlepool United. The versatile defender made 43 appearances for Pool, with some of his previous Club’s prior to moving to County Durham being AFC Fylde, Bolton Wanderers and Burton Albion.

Jack Williams, Rhys Hughes, Ben Hockenhull, Paul Lewis, Ethan Bristow and Reece McAlear have all joined the Birkenhead club this summer on free transfers.

Experienced players such as Jay Spearing, Peter Clarke and Callum McManaman have left the Tranmere, with former Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard now without a team, alongside ex-Town man, Joe Maguire – who made five appearances for Fleetwood between 2017/19.
