FLEETWOOD TOWN

After a successful trip to Croatia, it was a shorter journey for Town at the weekend as they travelled to Stoke-on-Trent to face Championship side Stoke City. In the baking heat, head coach Scott Brown saw his side come back from a goal down to end the match level at 1-1.

Midfielder, Dan Batty scored Town’s goal at the bet365 Stadium after Danny Andrew’s low-driven cross from the left-flank - a goal that the Cod Army deserved on their travels.

Majority of Fleetwood’s players got 75+ minutes at the weekend, which keeps ticking the lads over ahead of their League One opener at Port Vale – buy your match tickets HERE!

AFC BARROW

The Sky Bet League Two side have had a very successful pre-season thus far, with five wins from their five matches. New boss Pete Wild saw his team win their opening game against Holker Old Boys with a 3-1 victory, with that followed by a comfortable win away at Ashton United.

With wins against Penrith, Witton Albion and most recently South Shields already under their belts, the Bluebirds now await the Cod Army for their first pre-season home game.

Barrow have made eight signings this summer, with experienced central-midfielder Sam Foley being one of those through the door after he left Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer. The Club’s most recent signing was midfielder Solomon Nwabuokei following his departure from Woking.

SCOTT BROWN AFTER STOKE CITY CLASH

Head coach Scott Brown spoke to the club after his sides 1-1 draw away at Championship side, Stoke City – here’s what he had to say ahead of the game:

“Stoke are a top-quality Championship club and that’s where all of our lads want to be, they want to be pushing those levels and today, we did that. The lads are in a good place at the moment, but momentum in football is key.

“We’ve got to keep winning games and scoring goals and, luckily for us, we are in a good place at the moment, so we are wanting to take the positives from today into the next three games.

“We’ve got another game on Tuesday where a lot of the lads will get 90 minutes again. The standards that they showed and hit today will be expected weekly from now on, so we need to make sure we continue that and keep them fresh.”
