Three of the Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies teams were in action at the weekend and here is a round-up of how they did in their respected fixtures.

First Team

Salford City Lionesses 2-1 Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies

The first-team returned to league action after progressing to the semi-finals of the Lancashire Cup, but it wasn’t the result they were hoping for against the Lionesses. Georgia Payton scored in a game that saw great spells for the Wrens Ladies, but they were unlucky to lose on the day.

Players of the Match: Pharyn Ashton and Frankie Sarsfield.

League position: 4th

Reserves

Nelson FC Ladies 0-3 Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves

The Reserves carried on their brilliant form at the weekend as they travelled to face Nelson in another league fixture, which ended in a comfortable 3-0 win away from home. It was a battle from start to finish that saw Carmel Daniel secure a brace with Caz Wilcock netting another to make it a brilliant result.

Players of the Match: Isla Thiedeman and Alice O’Brien.

League position: 2nd

Development Squad

Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves 3-3 Galgate Ladies

The Development Squad were finally back in action after some time away from the pitch and it was a six-goal thriller at home. The ladies dug deep and gave it their all to secure a point via a last-minute winner, with goals from Ellie Duffy – who netted two – and Karla Broom.

Player of the Match: Ellie Duffy.

League position: 5th
