Forward Paddy Lane spoke to local press after scoring in Fleetwood Town’s draw against Cambridge United at Highbury on Saturday.

Fleetwood went one goal down due to a Wes Hoolahan goal from a corner but Lane’s third goal of the season, which was a brilliantly whipped finish from the edge of the box that found the top corner, cancelled out the visitors as both sides took a point home apiece.

Here’s what he had to say:

On the match…

“It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet but at the end of the day the team has got a point and that’s the most important thing, we’re working on the training ground every day to make our way up the table.

“We’ve all taken to what the gaffer wants us to do and my individual targets are to score more and the goal today has fallen nicely for me but again, it was a good effort from the team today to get back into it."

On the squad’s spirit…

“We’ve got good spirit in the tank; we have had it all season where we have a great team ethic and the lads are all brilliant where we all know we have to at least get a point if we can’t get three because you never want to leave a game with zero points.

“We’re a team that likes to get the ball down and play, the wind and conditions are just things that we have to deal with, it adds to our battle; We are always trying to be positive, and we know that we have to keep working hard, the clubs in a good place with the squad and staff and squad we have.”
