Fleetwood Town's annual memorial fixture is set to take place against Rotherham United on Saturday 15 January at Highbury Stadium.
The first home game of every new year is dedicated to remembering fans and those connected to the club that have sadly passed away.
Fleetwood Town will pay respects to those that have passed away during 2021 and J T Byrne Funeral Directors, who are the club’s official Memorial Partners, will sponsor the special fixture. A minute’s silence will also be observed ahead of kick-off, with names displayed on the big screen, as a tribute.
John Byrne, Director at J T Byrne Funeral Directors, told us: “The annual memorial fixture is incredibly important to the whole footballing community of Fleetwood.
“It gives us an opportunity to pay our respects to loved ones who have passed away with such a personal tribute. We always find it incredibly touching the way the community of Fleetwood and the club come together to pay their respects and as Memorial Partners of Fleetwood Town, we are proud to support this fixture”.
Sam Heaney, Commercial Executive at Fleetwood Town, added: “The first home fixture of every year is very special to us at the football club and is something we take very seriously. I really want to encourage families that have lost loved ones to send in their tributes ahead of the game.”
