Our stadium announcer Rod Allsworth’s voice has been echoing around the stands at Highbury for many years now and he celebrated his 15th anniversary with the club at Saturday’s win over Rotherham United!
There won’t be many people across the Fylde Coast who haven’t heard Rod’s voice over the years, either at the ground or as part of his Northern Soul DJ sets – he’s been there and done that many times now.
At the game on Saturday, he was surprised as his treasured microphone was taken from him for an announcement on the touchline which beckoned him down to the pitch to start the proceedings.
He was met by our CEO Steve Curwood who gave a stern handshake before handing over a specially printed – and signed – Rod 15 shirt to commemorate the occasion. It was only Steve down pitchside as his family then walked up behind him for an additional surprise.
