Fleetwood Town midfielder Dan Batty scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over MK Don on Saturday.

The Yorkshireman was celebrating his 25th birthday, and came off the bench in the Sky Bet League One fixture to make sure Town came away with all three points.

Here's what he had to say in his post-match interview:

On his birthday goal and the celebrations…

“You can’t ask for much more really, I got to the edge of the box and my eyes lit up again, so I thought, why not, and luck happens it flew into the top corner which got us the win and back on the road. I knew I made a good connection but there were a few bodies in the way, so I didn’t see it until it actually hit the net.

“Once a goal goes in that late in the game, you instantly think it will be the winning goal in the game, and luckily it was so we all went a bit mental.

"We’ve been getting a lot of draws, which means we are always in the games, but I think everyone has come out and said we need to turn some of those into wins and we have done tonight, even after going a goal down."

On the challenge MK Dons posed…

“They’ve got a big pitch here and some good technical footballers, so we always knew it was going to be hard. We thought they were going to try and have a lot of the possession, and we had to try and catch them on the counter, which we did twice thankfully. CJ [Carl Johnston] got a nice little goal, which I don’t know whether it was a shot, but he’ll take it all day.

“I took mine on the edge of the box and, even though we didn’t have too many shots, we’re coming away with the win. We It takes character to get yourselves back into games and even find that winner, especially on the road as I think this is a big three points for us which means we can climb up the table as well – I think it’s a good result for us all around.

“We don’t want to go one-nil down but when we do, we’ve got the strength and belief in the team to come back when we need to. Recently, a lot of our results have been draws, whether that’s us scoring first or going behind, we’ve always been in the games and have even come away with some really positive results against the top six in our league."
