Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signings of Northern Irish duo Stephen McMullan and Sam Glenfield, who will join up with the Club’s Under-18s setup ahead of their upcoming season.

Glenfield, 17, has joined the Cods from NIFL Premiership side Portadown after signing a professional contract with them at the age of 15 and has spent the last 18 months playing with their first team. The winger has also been part of the Northern Ireland youth setup, with call-ups coming for the Under-17s in the past and has recently been with the Under-18s at the Super Cup.

McMullan, who is also 17 years old, has also signed a deal with Fleetwood after making 10 professional appearances in the NIFL Championship due to their number one picking up an injury. The young goalkeeper is in the Northern Ireland setup as well, with a call-up to the Under-19s summer camp this year, alongside the previously mentioned winger.

On the signings, Jack Higgins, our Academy Manager, said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Stevie & Sam to Fleetwood Town football club. Firstly, they are both really exciting young players and come with great experiences, already playing senior football for Warrenpoint & Portadown, respectively, and being part of the Northern Ireland youth set-up.

“Secondly, it furthers our extensive work in Northern Ireland over the years, as they join no fewer than seven other Northern Irish boys here at Fleetwood Town, all of whom have received international recognition too.”

We thank both Warrenpoint Town & Portadown for their help in completing both deals and look forward to working with both boys closely this season.
