Fleetwood Town’s Under-18s came out 4-0 winners in their Youth Alliance fixture against Walsall at Poolfoot Farm.

It was a clinical performance from the young Cods as four different players found the back of the net on a sunny afternoon on the Fylde Coast.

Captain Will Johnson opened the scoring midway through the first half after Liam Roberts whipped in a cross, which was placed on the head of the centre-half six-yards out as he headed home.

In added time before the break, Town doubled their lead with a move that started with both Billy Jones and Pharrell Brown down the left wing.

Brown turned out and fizzed a pass into Dom Richmond on the edge of the penalty area, who took a touch around the defender before powering a left-footed strike into the back of the net.

This form carried on until the final whistle with tow more goals coming in the last 10 minutes via Roberts and Brown.

Roberts’ goal started with an interception from Ryan Hand on the halfway line, which then played the ball to Josh Kearns. He then found Brown before the ball found its way to Roberts inside the area, who shot across goal to make it three.

The final goal of the game was also one for the Cods from a quick counter attack as Sam Glenfield plays a lobbed pass into the path of Brown who drove at the right back, before cutting inside before firing his effort into the right post which then rebounded in.

Town XI: McMullan (GK), Jones, Hand, Johnson, Khela, Kearns, Brown, Morrison, Roberts, Richmond, Glenfield.
