Defender Danny Andrew spoke to the press after Saturday’s final game of the season against Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Despite a 4-2 defeat at the University of Bolton Stadium, other results went in Fleetwood’s favour and the Cod Army will play in Sky Bet League One again next season.

Here’s what Andrew had to say.

On staying in League One…

“We’re over the moon to stay up. We didn’t do it the way we wanted to do it, but the end goal has been achieved and we go again next season.

“I think that third goal has pretty much summed up our full season. Things like that have happened throughout and it’s been a crazy season - we finished the right side of the drop zone and we go again. It’s full credit to everyone behind the scenes and what we’ve done this season to keep the club in League One.

“I think a lot of people would have written us off at one point with the number of injuries we've had and full credit to the young lads. At one point they were the backbone of the team and they’ve played a huge part in keeping us in the league.”

On the younger players…

“It’s probably been one of the clubs where the young lads have been integrated with the first team a lot. To be fair to them, every single one of them took their chance. For example, [Barry] Baggley today scored an unbelievable goal.

“At one point they [the younger players] were the backbone of the team and they’ve played a huge part in keeping us in the league.

“It’s just rest now for a few weeks, dust ourselves down after a crazy season, and kick on again in pre-season. I think fewer injuries and we’ll be fine next season. I’ve never experienced that many injuries before. There have been three or four, but to have 14 in one go is ridiculous.”
