First-team players were all over the Fylde Coast on Wednesday afternoon visiting our Community Trust’s Easter sports camps at Poolfoot Farm, Carleton Green, and Shakespeare Primary.

Straight after their training session at the club’s training complex, the players quickly got changed and went their own ways to different locations to surprise the children who have been attending the camps during the school holidays.

Ellis Harrison and Anthony Pilkington, who both scored in Town’s 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra a couple of weeks back, headed down to the 5-a-side pitches at Poolfoot to meet the children, who were playing some small football drills at the time. They joined in for a bit before being on the end of a question-and-answer session.

At the same time, first-team starters Zak Jules and Dan Batty trekked into Fleetwood to go and meet Saturday’s team of the day school, Shakespeare Primary. It was an interesting meet-up as the children were doing a handball session, with both players taking part!

In the third of three visits, Paddy Lane and Callum Johnson were in Poulton as they visited the Carleton Green sports camp, where they were met by a large group of kids, and a member of staff from the Community Trust. They played dodgeball before playing their part in a Q&A session.

Mike Tallentire, School Sport Educator for the Community Trust, said: "It was great for all the players to come out into the community and see the children at the three Easter sports camps today.

“The children were really excited to see them both and as a Community Trust we are really excited to continue the collaboration with the football club and the local community moving forward.”
