Defender James Hill has made the step into the international footballing world this week as he made his England Under-20s debut on Monday afternoon in their 6-1 win over Romania at St. George’s Park.

The 19-year-old, who has already racked up 43 appearances for the Cods, joined up with the Young Lions at the start of the month in Burton Upon Trent and trained with the side until their solo clash of the camp, which took place on Monday against Romania.

In the game where Leeds United’s Joe Gelhardt bagged a hat-trick, Hill came off the bench midway through the second half and saw out the game, keeping a clean sheet in the time he was on the pitch.

It’s great to see another graduate from our Academy make their way onto the official England camps, after Josh Feeney - who captained and scored for the Under-16s before his move to Premier League side Aston Villa earlier on this year - and Billy Crellin who won the Under-17 World Cup back in 2017.

What an achievement, Hilly!
