We are looking back once again, as it’s Thursday, to a moment in recent history that all the Cod Army will likely remember. This week, we are going back to 2018 when Conor McAleny secured an away win at Oxford United with a goal of the season contender.
Town took all three points in dramatic style at the home of The Yellows as McAleny scored a screamer in stoppage time to take all three points from the Kassam Stadium. It was in the final minute of stoppage time when he received the ball on the left, took a touch, and smashed it into the net in style.
Bobby Grant had the best chances for Fleetwood in the game and even though Oxford had a few chances to make their mark on the game in the second period, Alex Cairns produced outstanding saves to keep United at bay.
