Defender James Hill has made the next step in his England career as he made his full debut in the Under-20s 1-1 draw against Italy in Chesterfield on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old, who came off the bench in the side’s last outing that ended in a 6-0 win over Slovakia, was named in the starting XI for the first time this week, as he started alongside Leeds United’s Cody Drameh, Hibernian’s Nathan Wood, and Sunderland’s Denis Cirkin.

Hill would have the task of marking AC Milan’s Daniel Maldini for the duration of the game, which is no easy task, but the defender stuck to his tasks as the side played out a 1-1 draw, thanks to a goal from Leeds’ Lewis Bate.

Congrats, Hilly!
